What does InsurePodcast mean by Post-SaaS insurtech?
“Post-SaaS Insurtech” is InsurePodcast’s working term, not a verdict on SaaS. It asks how shared software may evolve when AI completes more work, value is measured beyond access and seats, and governed AI access becomes another interface to the product. The reliable core can stay shared while the layer around it becomes easier to adapt.What may change
Vendors may take responsibility for more of the workflow. Pricing may reflect more than access and seats. Governed capabilities could give people, systems, and agents another way to use the product alongside the application interface.
What endures
Software still matters. So do security, permissions, audit trails, integrations, and production reliability. Insurance remains regulated, exception-heavy, and dependent on judgment. The Post-SaaS hypothesis concerns how commercial and product boundaries may evolve; it does not abolish the hard parts.
An insurance example
In one possible model, a submission platform goes beyond providing a configurable inbox: it ingests documents, resolves missing fields, applies the carrier’s rules, records every step, and delivers a review-ready file. The underwriter still makes the underwriting decision. The platform completes more of the work before that decision.
The Season 2 question
Season 2 tests this working thesis with founders, insurers, brokers, operators, engineers, AI researchers, and investors. How much of the workflow should the product own? What should pricing reflect as the work changes? How should AI interact with the platforms insurers rely on?
